Tutorial Tuesday: Pup treats and a GIVEAWAY!

Hello! My goodness, I don't know about you but weeks have been flying by lately and I can barely keep up. Halloween came and went in a blink, Thanksgiving is days away and Christmas will be here before we know it. Time has got to slow down a bit. I was always told- time is going to go by faster and faster as you get older. Man, they weren't kidding!

Ok so this weeks tutorial is a little different than the others. The others have been more "crafty" but this one involves baking. But not for you, for your pup! This week I've decided to share a recipe i've been using for a little while now. Pup treats! I know some of your may not have pets but that's ok. But some of you do and your pup's will love this recipe for sure! I found it on the internet a while back and have changed it up many different ways and this way is what I found to be the best. : ) They are much, MUCH cheaper to make than to buty in the store and much healthy for your pup. Here's what you'll need:

3 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup chicken broth

1 egg

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon dry yeast

Just follow these easy steps below to make a batch of the treats.

1. Heat 1/4 cup of chicken broth in a cup {using the microwave} just for a few seconds until it's warm. Add the yeast to the broth in the cup and stir until it dissolves.

2. Pour the yeast and broth mixture into a bowl then add the remaining cup of broth. Beat the egg and the honey in the cup with a fork then add this to the bowl of broth and stir until it is well mixed.

3. Gradually blend in the flour a bit at a time and keep mixing it in. You do not have to be fussy when it comes to measuring the flour. Just keep adding the flour until the bough is stiff enough to be kneaded.

4. Plop the dough onto a floured surface and knead it a bit. Then shape the dough into a ball and roll it out until it's about a 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle flour on the dough and surface to keep it from sticking.

5. Now cut the dough using any shaped cookie cutter. I used a dog bone, but any will do fine.

6. Put the dog bones on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake them at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Then turn the bones over and bake an additional 15 minutes or until lightly brown on both sides.

Let dog bones cool overnight to get extra hard. Store the bones in any container or bad in a dry location.

I guarantee your pup will be pleased with your new recipe, I know mine was! : )
