She is one.

This post comes nearly 4 months after my girls big day. With the craziness of the holidays, preparing for the arrival of baby #2 and juggling a newborn in my arms and a 13 month old on my hip, posting this special day seemed to fall through the cracks. Oops!

The big day had arrived! My girl is one. I have a one year old? What? I have a one year old!

This past year I have learned so much about myself, life and so much more all because of this little human. She has rocked our lives and we love it. She has brought so much joy to it.

She made me a mommy. Something I always wanted to be. I dreamed of becoming a mom since I was a young girl. She has given me something that no one else can. We share something special.

Now to the party details...one of my favorite things!

I started planning her party when I found out we were having a girl. I couldn't wait! The theme changed a few times, but the color scheme remained about the same. I knew I wanted bright, fun, colorful. That was her. We rented a pavilion at a local party with a playground nearby. Madelyn and I tested out the play ground a few times before the party. She loved it.

We went with an Ice Cream Party. It seemed perfect for our girl.

Her cake was made by my good friend Gia from Once Upon A Cupcake
Her work is outstanding and she never ceases to amaze me!

We had an ice cream bar! It was fun. We kept it simple with a variety of popular toppings, cones and a few different flavors of ice cream, it was a hit.

Activities for the kids included bubbles, play dough, piñata and the playground of course.

We went with the pull string piñata because most of the kids were young.

The girl loved her first experience with candy! Every piece went in the mouth. Luckily, daddy was right there to collect and eat them all.

Family and friends came to celebrate our girl. It was a beautiful day!

Time for cake! She was a lady when it came to her smash cake. Her daddy was a little bit disappointed in her lack of enthusiasm but I have to say I didn't mind a bit.

Favors were ice cream cones filled with cotton candy.

A few more details from the party.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate Madelyn on her special day!
