Tutorial Tuesday: Peppermint Chocolate Spoons

December 1st is tomorrow and I couldn't be more thrilled about Christmas! I love the hustle and bustle, the decorating, the music, the parties...I love it all. Really. It's the most wonderful time of the year! The song couldn't say it better. This year has flown by and I'm going to savor the last 31 days for sure! We {Floridians} are due a little bit of a cool front the end of this week. Can't wait! So just in time for this little cool spell I have a special tutorial for you! They are Peppermint Chocolate Spoons. Pair them with hot chocolate mix and they make great gifts! Here's what you'll need:

1 Package of chocolate chips

Plastic spoons

Candy canes

Parchment paper

First, you need to heat the chocolate chips on the stove over low heat {do not try to rush the process using medium or high heat, you will burn the chocolate and it won't work}. On low heat, it should only take approximately 10 minutes to melt. Stir often.

Second, once chocolate is completely melted stir each plastic spoon in the melted chocolate. Cover the end with a nice thick layer. Place the spoons on a parchment paper lined tray.

Third, crush a handful of candy canes in a zip lock bag. Using a hard object crush them into very small pieces.

Fourth, sprinkle the crushed peppermint over the chocolate covered spoons. Then place them in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes {or until completely hard}.

You can dress them up however you would like. I used clear cellophane with christmas ribbon. Have the kids help too, they make great gifts for teachers, neighbors, hostesses, co-workers and much more!

Have fun and happy DECEMBER!!!! : )
