DIY Fun

How fun is it to find something in a store then go home and make it your own? Oh so fun! Upon shopping and searching for ideas for my sister Dawn’s bridal shower, I came upon this beauty in Anthropologie

It is lovely. It is girly. It is fun. It is exactly what I was looking for to spice up the dessert table. It was also $170.00. Yikes, not so cool. But, with the help of my handy hubby and a little thrift shop hunting I was able to still pull it off and for less than $20 bucks! Say Whaaat! Yep, that’s right! Here it is...

Materials needed:

Teacups, saucers, plates, one platter or larger plate (for bottom layer)

Two Part Epoxy (found at any local hardware store)

Wooden skure

  1. Collect random (the more random, the more fun) teacups, saucers, plates and platters. I suggest checking Goodwill, local thrift shops and Faith Farm. There are some great deals to be had out there ladies, you’ve just gotta dig. You are going to want a larger platter/plate for the base and get smaller as you go up. Oh and try to find a unique piece for the top, maybe something you can put flowers in.  The possibilities are endless.

  2. First, lay out the pieces on table and decide the order in which you would like them to be stacked.

  3. Carefully squeeze epoxy (small amounts as needed, or it will dry out) on a paper plate. Use wooden skure to dip into epoxy mixture and carefully line the pieces you would like to connect.

Taa daa! Here it is at the bridal shower. It was easy and lots of fun. Enjoy!
