hello fall.

I love fall because it is the beginning of a handful of super fun holidays. My favorite. All of them.

Last week we ventured out to the park in the back of our neighborhood in search of pine cones for a fall craft we planned to do. We waited for it to feel a little bit like fall outside. But here in Florida, it doesn't feel like fall here until January. Just kidding. So it was basically a cloudy- going to rain in the afternoon- kind of morning. But it is fall all the same...

Out of no where we were surrounded by these little guys. They were cute but not very welcoming. They aren't scared of you and don't like it when you take their pine cones. Needless to say, we didn't stay long.

Shame on me for putting her in sandals to go to a pine needle infested park. Note self for next time.

The original pine cone craft went horrible so we ended up painting with our cones. It was a hit.

Hope your fall season is filled with apple cider and pumpkin patch playdates!

The backyard.

Hey, its been a while. I've been on somewhat of a blogging freeze. There's been a few different reasons for that, but they don't matter. We are back and excited for some things i'll be sharing with you soon. Until then though, we want to share a little of our summer.

Our backyard has hosted a handful of parties and its fair share of late nights around the fire pit. There has been lots of memories made in our small fenced in yard oasis. But none of them have measured up to the memories we created back there this summer. I dreamed of swings and little plastic pools for that space and this summer we broke her in. We utilized that space more than ever and boy did it make my heart happy. It might just be a fenced in patch of grass. But, it gets the job done and we love to spend time out there. Here are some highlights of our summer in the backyard.

Keepin' it classy with this next one. One, yes, my child is crawling through the dog door to get into the porch. Thats is her preferred mode of entry. Always. Two, I need to pick weeds. Really bad. Three, hubby needs to repair the screen because she has missed the dog door a time or two. Four, her shoe? Yea, don't know either.

This little dude loves the swing. I mean, loves it. He would nap on the thing if I let him. Actually, he has.

Not much is cuter than a little naked toddler in a swing.

Hope you enjoyed your summer as much as we did! Now, I am so looking forward to Fall! Stay tuned for a little Fall craft coming your way soon.

Just a half.

This week we celebrated a little guys half birthday. Yeah, we celebrate half birthdays around here because that means sweets. And we like sweets.

You better believe that even though our family is eating Paleo, I managed to find a chocolate chip cookie recipe that fit. A cake wasn't an option but boy, did the cookies hit the spot. I followed this tutorial to make the "1/2" topper. Except I substituted confetti for sprinkles.

Can't wrap my head around the fact that 6 months have come and gone. Our little guy is growing so fast and it makes me a little sad. He recently started solids. As if the smile doesn't give it away. He was a fan. A big fan!

This last picture is kind of strange and to be honest I think I was changing settings when it snapped. The way Landon is looking at Madelyn here, holy melt my heart into a pile of mussy goodness. He adores her.

Happy 1/2 birthday, buddy!
